Magical mountains, world-class wine and sensational safaris
If variety is what you’re looking for, then the Garden Route Explorer Tour is the trip for you.
Over 9 days you’ll experience an array of unforgettable sights, sounds, experiences – and tastes! From Table Mountain you’ll travel to L’Agulhas – the southern tip of South Africa – before riding, via Betty’s Bay, to spend time with the penguins at Stony Point Penguin Sanctuary. Before long, you’ll be in Hermanus, a whale watcher’s paradise.
Riding along the Cape’s southern coast, you’ll get to explore the mountains and forests that have made the Garden Route such a popular passage amongst the biking community. Then, after a short stay in Knysna and a brief stop at the Tsitsikamma coastline, you’ll head to Port Elizabeth, where you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to beaches and wildlife. And, for those of you who are brave enough, the Bloukrans Bridge Bungy, with a drop of 216 metres, is there for the taking.
Riding to Addo National Park, you’ll hopefully be able to spot the big five (lion, elephant, rhino, leopard and buffalo) before riding to Oudtshoorn – the ostrich capital of the world – where you can spend time with the flightless birds and descend into the Cango Caves.
As you hit Route 62, you’ll be en-route to the Winleands region, where you’ll meander along the longest wine route in the world and get to take in everything that’s magical about the great South African outdoors.
This trip really does cover some of the best roads in South Africa – and all in an 11-day adventure.
